India has added 11 more wetlands to the list of Ramsar sites to make total 75 such sites covering an area of 13,26,677 hectares in the country.
The 11 Indian wetlands which have been designated as new Ramsar sites are : 
4 wetlands in Tamil Nadu
- Chitrangudi Bird Sanctuary
- Suchindram Theroor Wetland Complex
- Vaduvur Bird Sanctuary
- Kanjirankulam Bird Sanctuary
3 wetlands in Odisha
- Tampara Lake
- Hirakud Reservoir
- Ansupa Lake
2 wetlands in Jammu and Kashmir
- Hygam Wetland Conservation Reserve
- Shallbugh Wetland Conservation Reserve
1 wetland in Maharashtra :Thane Creek
1 wetland in Madhya Pradesh : Yashwant Sagar
Tamil Nadu has maximum no. of Ramsar sites (14 nos), followed by UP which has 10 nos. of Ramsar sites.
