India currently has 46 sites designated as Wetlands of International Importance (Ramsar Sites), with a surface area of 1,083,322 hectares

Four more Indian sites were added to the Ramsar list as wetlands of international importance. 1. Bhindawas Wildlife Sanctuary, Haryana 2. Sultanpur National Park, Haryana
3. Wadhwana Wetland, Gujarat
4. Thol Lake Wildlife Sanctuary, Gujarat
